The Blockchain Innovation Challenge is an international competition aimed at promoting collaboration between software developers and businesses that aim to create applications and services that run on the block chain. Section 1 of the competition, the Innovation Prize, will award $900,000 in cash to industry-first developed ways driving interoperability, developer control, open social mobility, social learning, and interoperability. This prize will be divided amongst the top six winners.
Section 2 of the competition is focused on the development and deployment of proof-of-concepts and solutions. This section will also award a second Innovation Prize of $250,000, with each winning team given a year to create their proof of concept or solution. The winning team also has the option of presenting their proof of concept or solution at the main competition. They also have a choice of providing a demonstration on a live webinar hosted by the Global Brain, Inc.
Section 3 focuses on the creation of the actual block chain application, which will serve as a testbed for business experimentation and development. The judges will examine the use of the block chain to identify key challenges that need to be addressed, and how the application can be successfully adapted and executed for future application development. The winning team will receive the $250,000 prize.
Section 4 of the competition will feature a special “Teams” panel of judges from the United States, European Union, Russia, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Africa. These judges will select teams based on their ability to demonstrate technical expertise and the breadth of their project.
Section 5 of the competition will feature an industry-sponsored summit. This conference will present teams with the opportunity to present their ideas, discuss industry research and development, and build relationships with existing businesses. The summit will last four days and will include expert mentors from the global blockchain industry.
The final stage of the competition will take place during the main event. The winning team will participate in a live event hosted by the Global Brain, Inc., and will present their technology, demonstrations and solutions to a panel of judges who evaluate and select the winner. The winning team will then win the competition and receive the total prize amount.
To qualify for the Challenge, teams must meet the standards set by the judges. In addition, teams must be based in the U.S. or Canada, at least 90 days prior to the start of the competition.
